He is best known to the Western world for his book, “The Prophet”, which was published in 1923. Gibran is also the best-selling poet, after Shakespeare and Lausy. He worked as a teacher for several months after his graduation, then devoted himself to his own literary and artistic activity, and his free writing in the Arab press. He headed the editor-in-chief of Al-Badeel magazine, which is published by the Iraqi Writers and Writers Association.
He lived in Beirut between 1969 – 1972, then returned to Baghdad, and left it again in 1979, heading to London, where he fled until his death on May 17, 2019. He was about 74 years old, due to complications from illness.
