عن رواية الإعترافات أخبرني إيليّا أنني لست أنا (قال وجدوني على خط التماس مصاباً أنزف من صدري). بعد ذلك سأسمع القصة التي أخبرتك إياها في البداية (سيارة من “الغربية” وصلت الى زاروب: حدث شيء ولعلع الرصاص. كل الذين في السيارة قضوا بالرصاص إلا أنا. أصبت في صدري وبقيت حيّاً. لم أكن أريد أن أموت). سأسمع القصة وانا أنظر الى الرباط الأبيض يلفّ رأس الرجل الذي حملني مدمّى من خط التماس والذي إعتقدت طوال حياتي أنه أبي. من كان؟ الشائب يخفي نصف وجهه، يخفي الرأس ونصف الوجه ويخفي الأذن ويخفي أجزاء من الرقبة. من كان؟ عينه الباقية أين كانت تنظر فيي أيامه الأخيرة؟ ضعت بعيداً. لا أعرف أين ذهبت بعد أن عرفت. أذكرني أسير في طرقات الجامعة ثم أترك الطريق المعبّدة وأدخل بين الأشجار. الأعشاب والتراب والورق اليابس. الجذوع السوداء وتحت القشرة الميتة أرى اللون الأبيض. هل كنت أرى شيئاً؟ من كنت في تلك الأيام؟ بعد سنوات سأسير على تلك الدرب الضيقة مرة أخرى، بين الأشجار التي تفصل القسم الفوقاني عن القسم التحتاني. في هذه المرة سأرى البراعم الخضراء النابتة على قشرة الجذوع الميتة، سأرى الزهور بين الاعشاب وسأسأل نفسي أين ذهب ذلك الشخص الذي مرّ من هنا قبل سنوات، أين ذهب؟ أريد أن أخبرك ما حدث لي لكنني لا أعرف كيف أفعل. هل تستطيع أن تتخيل شعوري وهم يقولون لي بعد كل السنوات إنني لست أنا؟ الواحد لا يقدر يخبر مافيه، يحاول مقدار مايستطيع، لكنه لا يقدر. الآن عندما أحاول أن أجد كلمة تشرح مأصابني لا أجد إلا هذه الكلمة “إختنقت”. إنها مشاهد مأساوية تستعيدها ذاكرة الراوي وتسحبها من ذاك الزمن الأليم، زمن الحرب الأهلية في لبنان. تكرّ الصورة في رأسه، فالذاكرة حقول، حقول أأوقصور وكهوف دهاليز. وكأن الراوي يجري في تلك الدهاليز، يدخل الزواريب البعيدة عن الأقدام، ويحاول العثور على نفسه. يستحضر حياته التي عاشها في حضن أم وأب وأخوات نَعِم فيها معهم. يتذكر ألة الحرب المدمرة ويومياتها، إلا أن وقعها لم يكن أقل إيلاماً من وقع حرب نفسية عاشها بعد أن إكتشف أنه هو لم يكن هو. وهكذا جدّ العزم في محاولة البحث عن ذاته وهويته.

تحكي الرواية قصة حنا يعقوب، وهو رجل مسيحي من بيروت، مهنته بيع البيض، كان يتواجد صدفتا على أرصفة المرفأ عندما أُقتيد مجموعة من المتقاتلين الدروز، نتيجة للحرب الأهلية في جبل لبنان بينهم وبين الموارنة والتي اندلعت سنة 1860، فاصدر الفرمان العثماني قرار بترحيل 550 درزياً إلى سجون المملكة في بلاد البلغار، عقاباً لهم على اعتدائهم على المسيحيين الموارنة. وتم شمل حنا يعقوب معهم، حيث تم نفيه واقتياده بالبحر إلى قلعة بلغراد عند تخوم الإمبراطورية العثمانية، بدلا من شخص آخر أطلق سراحه بعدما دفع والده رشوة للضابط العثماني. وتدور الرواية حول مععاناة حنا وبقية السجناء على امتداد 12 سنة من السجن في بلغراد وغيرها من بلاد البلقان. أعقب هذه الرحلة الكثير من المعاناة. منهم من قضى نحبه في قلعة بلغراد وآخرين في الصِّرب والجبل الأسود وبريشتنيا، وبسبب الطبيعة القاسية. ومع هذا فإن سجن وحَّد المتنافرين، فهؤلاء الذين كانوا يقاتلون فيما بينهم، ما أن وضعوا في مكان واحد حتى تآلفوا، وهو جوهر الحادثة التاريخية. وفي الوطن، تحكي الرواية عن زوجة حنا يعقوب ‘هيلانة قسطنطين’ وابنتهما بربارة، وكيف أثر غياب الزوج منذ خرج في الصباح بسلة البيض دون أن يعود على مدار اثني عشر عاماً، وكيف جاهدت الزوجة، وقاومت كل المنغصات على أمل واحد هو أن يعود الزوج.

عن الرواية : “كانت الشمس تغيب. وأنفاس الخريف عطرة في الهواء. سال الشعاع البرتقالي في أزقة البلد وعطى بقشرة رقيقة كالشمع الأبواب والحيطان والنوافذ والوجوه. انعكس النور على زجاج في العمارات عند الميناء فبدت العمارات كأنها تشتعل بالنار. عبد الجواد أحمد البارودي ترك البازركان ونزل إلى “محطة الشام” وجلس يدخن أرجيلة مع ابنه ويتأمل توهج الغروب في الأفق. كان قلبه يثقل بمرور كل لحظة. وفكر في رحلة قديمة. لم يفكر تدفقت الذكريات في رأسه وجسمه. ذراعه كلّها ارتعشت ونربيش الأرجيلة كاد أن يسقط من بين أصابعه. عادت إليه ذكرى نهارٍ شتوي بعيدٍ وخيّّل غليه أنه ما زال يركض تحت ذلك المطر. كان مطراً رمادياً، لم يلبث أن صار أسود، وكان ينهمر بلا توقف. سال العالم. سالت السماء وسالت الأرض وسال جسم عبد الجواد أحمد البارودي. عادت إليه الذكريات فرأى نفسه يسيل راكضاً من الشام، من الدكان الصغير حيث سال دم أخيه على الأرض.. كان يركض ولون الخوخ في عينيه. انتشرت بقعة الدم على وجه الشمس. انطفأ نور الكون وحلّ الظلام. ذراعه كلها ارتجفت وخيل إليه أن السكينة تسقط من بين أصابعه الآن فقط. كأن هذا العمر كله لم يعبر… التفت وعاد يحدق إلى الأفق… وسمعت ذلك الصوت من جديد: قعق، قعق، قعق. لكن هذه المرة لم يرفع رأسه. عبد الجواد نظر إلى الغروب القاتم ولم يرفع رأسه إلى السماء: كان تائهاً في ظلمات تتمدد وفي أعماقه. كأنه يسقط في بئر بلا قعر..”. ربيع جابر يجتاز خياله حدود الزمان وحدود المكان منطلقاً إلى ذلك الزمن البعيد الذي سبق نشوب الحرب العالمية الأولى وقدوم جمال باشا إلى بيروت، انطلق إلى حارة البارودي، ليروي قصتها وقصة الرجل صاحب الذراع الواحد الذي بنى البيت الصغير الأول لهذه العائلة، في المكان الذي عرف لاحقاً بحارة البارودي ففي ذلك الشتاء البعيد جاء الجد الأكبر لعائلة البارودي إلى بيروت بين 1820 و1822، جاء عبد الجواد أحمد البارودي صاحب الذراع الواحدة، جاء إليها هارباً من الشام. يسحب ربيع جابر القارئ إلى عالم الأسلاف إلى آثارهم، إلى مبانيهم التي رمت عليها الحداثة ثوباً جديداً، كما يسحب ربيع جابر نفسه يسحب أيضاً القارئ معه إلى ذلك كله في محاولة لإيقاظ الزمن النائم في الحجارة لإخضاعه لعملية مساءلة عما كان في ذلك الزمن. وهل ما جرى ما هو إلى مقدمات لما هو آت. ومع شخصية عبد الجواد أحمد البارودي المرسومة بدقة ينتقل الكاتب وبخفة إلى ذلك الزمن البعيد إلى ما قبل الحرب العالمية الأولى، مسترسلاً من خلالها في التأريخ لبيروت تلك الفترة. ومندمجاً مع شخصيته إلى حدّ التماهي. مقنعاً القارئ بأنه كان أحد شهود أحداث تلك الرواية بكل خيالاتها. وربما ببعض واقعها.
