About the Author: Victor Hugo (February 26, 1802 – May 22, 1885) was a French writer and poet, one of the most prominent writers of France in the Romantic era, his works have been translated into most spoken languages. Victor Hugo influenced the French era in which he lived and said, “I am the one who put on the red hat in French literature,” that is, the hat of beauty. Victor Hugo was born in Besançon in the Danube region in eastern France. He lived in exile for fifteen years, during the reign of Napoleon III, from 1855 to 1870. He founded and then became honorary president of the International Society of Writers and Artists in 1878. He died in Paris on May 22, 1885 AD. His father was an officer in the French army with the rank of general. Victor Hugo was educated in Paris and Madrid in Spain.. He wrote his first play – a kind of tragedy – at the age of fourteen.. When he reached the age of twenty he published his first collection of poetry Then he published his first literary novel. He used to talk about his childhood a lot, saying, “I spent my childhood tied to books.” Freedom is also one of the most important aspects of the life of the famous writer, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a word that is often repeated for Hugo. “If you happen to block the flow of blood in an artery, the result will be that a person will fall ill. Rather, it became a symbol of rebellion against the existing situation. Over fifty novels and plays by Victor Hugo were published during his lifetime, among which are his most important works: The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Les Misérables, A Gentleman, Workers of the Sea, and The Last Day of a Man Sentenced to Death. In the field of theatre, he presented the theory of romantic drama in the introduction to his play “Cromwell” in 1827, and this theory was mainly presented in “Hernani” in 1830 and “Ray Blas” in 1838. Hugo contributed to the renewal of poetry and theater, and this renewal impressed his contemporaries and Some of the other updaters didn’t like it. Hugo’s moral and political choices during the second half of his life and his unique actions made Hugo an emblematic figure who was posthumously honored by the French Third Republic on May 22, 1885, with a popular funeral that accompanied the transfer of his body to the Cemetery of the Magnificent in Paris on May 31, 1885.
