He was born in West Bloomfield, Michigan on August 13, 1981 to a lawyer father and a teacher mother. He grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. Grant has been involved in jump diving and aspires to become a growing professional basketball player. During his high school, he was named All-American in 1999 in diving. He secured an academic position at the age of 28, making him the youngest Wharton professor.
