هذا هو الكتاب الرابع في سلسلة (تنمية الشخصية)، وقد كان الكتاب الأول بعنوان (اكتشاف الذات)، وكان الكتاب الثاني بعنوان (خطوة نحو التفكير القويم)، أما الكتاب الثالث فقد كان بعنوان (تشكيل عقلية إسلامية معاصرة)، ومن الواضح أنني تناولت في هذا الكتاب والكتابين اللذين قبله الجانب العقلي والفكري في الشخصية، واعترف أن الفصل بين هذا الكتاب والذي قبله فصل شبه تعسفي، لأن كلاً منهما يتناول تجديد البناء العقلي لدى المسلم المعاصر، وإن كانت حاولت في الكتاب السابق التركيز على ما له صلة بطرق التفكير، وركزت في هذا الكتاب على مجموعة من الأفكار والمفاهيم التي يحتاج إليها المسلم المعاصر في استيعاب زمانه بتحدياته وفرصه. وهذه المجموعة يمكن للمرء أن ينظر إليها على أنها أدوات في يد العقل مع أنها في الحقيقة تعيد تشكيل العقل وتحديث طروحاته وتصوراته، أي أن المفاهيم التي نملكها ذات عمل مزدوج، إذ أنها تتأبى على أن تكون في خدمة العقل دون أن تؤثر فيه وتجذبه نحوها. إنني في هذا الكتاب لم أقصد إلى شرح كل المفاهيم المطلوبة لتحديث الذهنية، ولا أستطيع ذلك، وإنما هدفت إلى إثراء الساحة الفكرية ببعض الرؤى والتحليلات التي أظن أنها تسهم بشكل أو بآخر في تقديم العقل المسلم.
