About the Author: – A Syrian thinker looking at mythology and the history of religions as an introduction to understanding the spiritual dimension of man. He was born in 1941 in Homs, where he studied and obtained a secondary certificate, after which he moved to study in Damascus and obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1965 from Damascus University. He was fascinated by mythology and the history of religions early, so he wrote in newspapers and magazines since 1958. – He published his first research in the Lebanese Journal of Arts in 1960 AD – He worked in the Management Development Center of the International Labor Organization in Damascus between 1969 – 1978 AD – He issued his founding book The First Adventure of the Mind in 1976 AD – He worked in an oil company in Abu Dhabi between 1979-1986 AD – In 1985 AD, he published his famous book The Ishtar Mystery – he devoted himself to studying history, mythology and the history of religions independently – he contributed to two books in English issued in Britain, the first of which is Jerusalem between the Torah and History, edited by the American researcher at the University of Copenhagen Thomas Thomson, and the second is the polemics of the history of ancient Israel and the building of the state in Palestine, edited by the English researcher Webkin – published in Beijing in cooperation with researcher Dr. Zhao Kuo a book in Chinese and Arabic on the Chinese sage Lao Tzu – is currently working on the history of Middle Eastern religions at Beijing University of Foreign Studies

تقع هذه الموسعة في نقطة الوسط بين ما يشبه القواميس من المؤلفات التي صدرت في مجلد واحد، تُرجم بعضها إلى العربية، وبين الموسوعة المحيطة التي تقدم كل شيء تقريباً مثل موسوعة الأديان التي صدرت عن دراما كميلان عام 1987 في ستة عشر مجلداً ضخماً. من هنا يمكن وصف موسوعتنا هذه بالمختصرة. لأنها لا تتوقف إلا عند المحطات المهمة في تاريخ الأديان. ولكن الاختصار هنا لا يعني الاقتضاب وإنما الاقتصار، لأن كل محطة نتوقف عندها سوف تنال حظها الوافي بما يتناسب مع أهميتها. ولقد عمد محرر الموسوعة، وهو متخصص مشهود له بطول الباع في مجال تاريخ الأديان، إلى جمع مواده من عدد متنوع من المراجع العالمية الموسوعية، والمتخصصة، متبعاً في اختيار كل مادة معيار المستوى العلمي وبساطة التناول وحسن التوصيل، لأن الموسوعة موجّهة إلى أوسع شريحة ممكنة من القراء. ومع تعدد المساهمين حرص المحرر أيضاً على تعدد المترجمين، وعهد إليهم بالمادة كل حسب ميله وخلفيته ومزاجه، وقدّم إليهم كل مشورة وتعاون، آملاً أن تكون الموسوعة ثمرة تعاضد جمهرة من الباحثين الكبار والمترجمين الأكفّاء، لتؤدي دورها المنشود في الثقافة العربية المعاصرة.

About the Author: Claude Lévi-Strauss (French: Claude Lévi-Strauss); (November 28, 1908 – October 30, 2009), French sociologist. Lévi-Strauss began his formation by studying philosophy, but these arbitrary abstract theories far from social reality soon disappointed him, so he traveled to Brazil, where he taught sociology and discovered the works of American anthropologists (unknown in Europe at the time) such as Boas, Cropper and Louie. After returning to France in 1948, he presented his thesis on the theoretical problems of kinship. He was elected professor at the Collège de France in 1959 and held the chair of social anthropology that had been held by Marcel Mauss before him. The work and science of Lévi-Strauss had the greatest impact in the field of anthropology and ethnological field investigation.
يقول كلود ليفي شتراوس عن إنجازه العلمي الكبير “أسطوريات”: “إنه لا يساوي العناء الكبير الذي بذل فيه”، ليس في القول، الذي يمس عملاً من أربعة مجلدات في آلاف الصفحات، ما يدلل على غرور أو تواضع، بل أن فيه ما يصرح بزهد شديد وبصدق مأخوذ بحقيقة غائمة الاتجاهات. فالإنتربولوجي الشهير، الذي ولد في باريس 1908، يستأنس بغموض الحقيقة ولا يركن إلى وضوح العلم إلا قليلاَ. لهذا يبدو كتابه الغريب “مدارات حزينة” صورة مطابقة له، يعلم عن شعرية المعرفة، وعن محدودية العلم، الذي يفتح باباً ويغلق آخر، ويرى في الكون سؤالاً شاسعاً لا يستنفد أبداً. “مداريات حزينة” كتاب مختص وبعيد عن الاختصاص في آن، يلمس فيه “الإثنولوجي” مادة غزيرة، ويقع فيه القارئ على ما يشير إلى الفنون والطبائع البشرية، ويلمح فيه من أراد كلاماً مشرقاً ينوس بين الشعر والتصوف. ولعل طبيعة الكتاب، التي تذعه في حقل الاختصاص وفي حقول أخرى، هو ما دفع بغير المختصين أن يحتفوا به حين ظهر عام 1955، حال جورج باتاي وموريس بلانشو وريمون آرون، وهو ما جعل أكاديمية غونكور تتمنى أن يكون الكتاب رواية، كي تتوجه له بجائزتها الشهيرة. ولأن في الكتاب اختصاصاً وما يفيض على الاختصاص، نظرت إليه الأوساط العلمية بتحفظ محسوب، مدافعة عن “العلم الخالص” المبرأ من روح الشعر وأطياف التأمل. ولم تكن تلك المواقف المختلفة إلا صورة عن كتاب لم يشأ أن يكون كغيره، انطوى على يوميات “إنسانية” قلقة متسائلة، وعلى معارف “إثنولوجية” جديدة، واستعاد عنواناً هجس به الانتربولوجي الشهير ذات مرة، ذلك أن شتراوس شرع في شبابه بكتابة رواية عنوانها “المدارس الحزينة” تخلى عنها بعد ثلاثين صفحة. بنى شتراوس شخصية مسكونة بالمفارقة، تعيش زمنها وزمناً آخر، وتتحرّر من زمنها متوسلة أقاليم مهجورة وبعيدة، فهو دارس “الشعوب البدائية”، الذي يكره “الأسفار والاكتشافات”، ويرى في السفر الضروري بهجة قوامها الأسى، فتكرار البهجة تكرار للسفر الذي لا يطاق، وهو العالم الذي يقرأ الزمن الحديث بوثائق من أزمنة غابرة، فلا جسور مهدومة تماماً بين رواسب القبائل السائرة إلى الانقراض ومجتمعات باريس ونيويورك، ذلك أن غياب الجسور الإنسانية يمنع المعرفة المختلفة، الذي يتطير من اليقين والأحكام النهائية، ويضع الحدس الذي لا جدران له إلى جانب المعطيات العلمية وهو الباحث المعمر الذي يكثر من الحديث عن الغابر والمنقضي والمتلاشي، ويسأل “الإنسان العابر” أن يكون رحيماً في رحلته العارضة، وأن لا يتصرف بـ “أرضه” بسفاهة وغلظة، وضعت هذه الصفات، التي تقترب من الفرادة، في شخصية شتراوس تصورات إنسانية رحبة تقول بالتسامح والتعامل الحواري ونبذ التعصب، قبل أن تستقر في صيغة أخلاقية -نظرية عنوانها: الدفاع عن التعددية الثقافية. يتحرر شتراوس من دعاوى العرق والجنس و”سلطة القوة” ويدافع عن التنوع الثقافي الإنساني وضرورة الحفاظ عليه، واستنباط الوسائل التي تمده بالتجدد والديمومة، وتصور كهذا ينكر، بداهة، معتقدات “المراتب البشرية” ويقول بثقافات إنسانية متساوية، تختلف ولا تتنافى، وتتباين ولا تتناكر، وتتحاور ولا يمحو بعضها بعضاً.

يحتل مفهوم الأسطورة مركز الصدارة في هذا الكتاب الصغير كما هو الحال في أغلب أعمال ليفي شتراوس إن لم يكن كلها، فيحاول ليفي شتراوس أن يحدد علاقة الأسطورة بالعلم، وعلاقتها بالتاريخ، وعلاقتها بالموسيقى واللغة، وموقعها في سياق النسق الكلي للفكر الإنساني. لقد كان لهذا المفهوم وما زال سحره الخاص وجاذبيته في أعمال ليفي شتراوس خاصة في الإنثروبولوجيا البنيوية و”الفكر البري” و”الطوطمية” و”الأسطوريات” وغيرها.
