Among his last writings on modern thought: Religious Discourse between Islamic Renewal and American Change, and the West and Islam Where is the error… and where is the truth? And articles of religious and non-religious extremism, Islamic law and Western secularism, the book Our Future between Islamic Renewal and Western Modernity, the crisis of modern Islamic thought, intellectual creativity and cultural privacy, and many others. He has contributed to many specialized intellectual periodicals, participated in many seminars and scientific conferences, and was a member of a number of intellectual and research institutions, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Higher Institute of Islamic Thought. The writings and research of Dr. Emara, which enriched the Arab library, which amounted to (200) authors, were characterized by innovative and revival points of view, and to contribute to intellectual problems, and to try to present a civilized renaissance project for the Arab and Islamic nation in the stage in which it lives. He received many awards, honors, certificates of appreciation and shields, including the Friends of the Book Association award in Lebanon in 1972, the State Encouragement Award in Egypt in 1976, and the Order of the Islamic Intellectual Trend, the Founding Leader in 1998.

About the Author: Rashid Al-Khayoun is an Iraqi researcher. He was born in Al-Chabaish in the Dhi Qar Governorate in southern Iraq. He graduated from the Teachers’ Institute in Baghdad in 1975. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Aden in 1984 in South Yemen. He obtained a doctorate in Sofia in Islamic philosophy in 1991. He practiced education in Baghdad primary schools for the period 1975-1979 at the time when UNESCO published a report in which it said that education in Iraq is also the same as education in the Scandinavian countries. He studied in Yemeni universities for the period 1979-1988, a period that witnessed the departure of more than 23 thousand researchers, doctors and engineers out of Iraq as a result of the first Gulf War that Iraq fought under the leadership of Saddam Hussein and Iran under the leadership of Ruhollah al-Moussawi Khomeini. He is also a weekly article writer in the Middle East newspaper and other newspapers. Most notably, the Emirati newspaper Ittihad.

About the Author: Ali Shariati was born near the city of Sabzwar in Khorasan in 1933. A famous Iranian Shiite thinker who is considered the inspirer of the Islamic Revolution. He graduated from the Faculty of Arts, to be nominated for a mission to France in 1959 to study religion and sociology to obtain two doctorate degrees in the history of Islam and sociology. In his youth, he joined the Mossadeq movement and worked as a teacher and was arrested twice while studying at college. He was arrested in Paris after participating in a solidarity demonstration with Patrice Lumumba, the first elected prime minister of the Congo, who was assassinated by Belgian intelligence. Then, after his return from France, where in 1969 he established the Hussainiya al-Irshad for the education of young people, and when it was closed in 1973, he and his father were arrested for a year and a half. Internal pressure and international condemnation led to his release in 1977, and he traveled to London. Dr. Ali Shariati is a unique example of Iran’s thinkers. Since, although he is ethnically Persian, he did not stop criticizing the populist tendency of the men of Safavid Shi’ism, in a more radical way than most of the Arab writers who addressed this issue. He showed the mechanism of blending in the Shiite narrative tradition between Iranian authority and Islamic prophecy. He is considered one of the few who were able to deviate from the whims of sects and doctrines. He sought with all his might to rally the ranks towards unity, criticizing what he called “Safavid Shi’ism” and “Umayyad Sunnah” and called for rapprochement between “Alawite Shi’ism” and “Muhammadian tradition”. Ali Shariati presented an important legacy of ideas that contributed to the preparation for the overthrow of the Shah’s regime, as there were more than 150 studies on it until 1997, and the total number of what was printed for Shariati in the seventies reached 15 million copies, as confirms the researcher Muhammad Esfandiari, and Shariati himself mentioned that the number of students The university students who enrolled in his lessons exceeded fifty thousand students, and the book “The State” distributed more than one million copies. ماذا نطرح مثل هذا البحث في مثل هذا الوقت، وما هي الحاجة لجعل طبقة من المجتمع تصبح طبقة واعية، وأن نثقف مجتمعاً شرقياً وبالخصوص المجتمعات الإسلامية، ونجعلها طبقة مثقفة ثقافة دينية ذاتية، وبمعنى دقيق معرفة نفس الدين. أنتم ترون أني لم أختر هذه المعرفة والاطّلاع الذاتي اختياراً غير مقصود، ولا أقول إنني يجب أن أسعى لإيجاد إيمان واعتقاد ديني لأن الإيمان والاعتقاد يعتمدان على المعرفة والاطّلاع ومن ضمنها الاطّلاع الديني. وإذا لم يكن هذا مرتبطاً بالمعرفة والاطّلاع الديني، فهذا الاعتقاد والإيمان والدين لا تستطيع النفس من خلاله علاج الألم، بل إن الألم سيزيد الآلام الأخرى لوعةً. فاعتقادنا بدينٍ لا نعرف عنه يكون مساوياً لاعتقادنا بأي دينٍ آخر. إن الإسلام دين متحرك، ومترقٍّ، وصانع المجتمع، ودين آخر يكون بعنوان المخدِّر والمنوّم. إن المعرفة والشعور، والمعرفة الدقيقة للدين التي تشخّص حدود الدين، والاختلاف بين هاتين الصفتين، هي التي توجد التحقّق الخارجي والعيني، وحينما نجهل الإسلام ونساويه مع أي دين آخر أو مدرسة فكرية لا نعرف عنها شيئاً فإننا نكون قد وصلنا إلى العمى وعدم الرؤية والضلال. وقد قلت إن المعرفة الدينية الذاتية ومعرفة الدين في المجتمعات الإسلامية ممتزج بالمعرفة الذاتية الاجتماعية وبمعرفة المجتمع الذي وُجُد وبالشعور والروح الثقافية مع الدين. لهذا فأنا لم أكن أتبع الطريقة القديمة العامة والبسيطة، بمعنى أنني أختار عشرة أو عشرين كتاباً في التأريخ وأتحدث عن الأديان وأنتهي. لأن هذا العمل سوف يستغرق وقتاً طويلاً ولم تُرجَ منه الفائدة، أما طريقتي فهي طرح المسائل الجديدة مع الأخذ بنظر الاعتبار تحوّل الأديان وتكامل النظرة الدينية المستقبلية على طول التأريخ والتي طُرحت في الأديان، لذا فمن الممكن أن نقول أن هذا الكتاب هو تحليل وبحث للأديان بدل أن نقول هو تاريخ للأديان.

إن الدين هو أحد السمات الرئيسية التي ميّزت الإنسان عن غيره من الكائنات، منذ أكثر من مائة ألف عام من عصرنا هذا، وقد مثل الدين محرضاً أساسياً وهاماً في حياة البشر عبر عصورها. ويسعى الباحث في كتابه إلى وصف تلك الظاهرة الدينية وذلك بهدف التعرف على هذه الظاهرة وعلى حقيقتها كما هي، وذلك عن طريق وصفها وصفاً دقيقاً، وعزلها عن بقية ظواهر الثقافة الإنسانية المتعددة. وفي سبيل هذا الهدف حاول الباحث في دراسته هذه تجنب أمرين، الأول فلسفة الدين، والثاني تاريخ الأديان، لذا كان توجهه في طريقة معالجته لهذا الموضوع وبشكل تلقائي نحو المنهج الفينومينولوجي-الظاهراتي، والفينومينولوجيا هي طريقة وصفية في البحث، يبتعد الباحث من خلالها عن النظريات الفلسفية، في محاولة لحدس ووصف الظاهرة كما تبدو لتجربتنا المباشرة، أي وصف طبيعتها وطرق تبدياتها وتعبيراتها عن نفسها دون إرجاعها إلى أية ظاهرة. هذا عن الفينومينولوجيا الفلسفية. أما عن الفينومينولوجيا الدينية، فإنها تطبيق لطرائق الفينومينولوجيا على دراسة تاريخ الدين، أي أنها تشغل مكان الوسط بين الفلسفة والتاريخ، وتطرح منهج بحث عملي، لا فلسفة بالمعنى التقليدي هذا. إن ما يميز الفينومينولوجيا الدينية بشكل خاص، هو ميلها إلى العمومية، وتقصيها لكل ما هو مشترك وعام بين الظواهر الدينية. وهي إذ تصف وتنظم وتنمذج موضوعاتها، إنما تعمل على استقصاء البنية والجوهر والمعنى في الظاهرة الدينية. وعلى هذا فإن ما يضعه الباحث بين يدي القارئ طيّ كتابه هذا، هو مساهمة في فينومينولوجيا الدين، متميزة بالجدّة في مقترباتها ومعالجتها ونتائجها. وعبر نظرة استجلائية نجد أن الباحث قدم بحثه هذا ضمن أبواب سبعة دارت حول المحاور التالية: مسائل أولية في المصطلح والتعريف، بنية الدين، الأشكال الاجتماعية للدين ومستوياته الشمولية، المعتقد، أو بنية الحدّ الأدنى للظاهرة الدينية، المعتقد وبنية الحدّ الأدنى، المطلق ونسبية الآلهة في معتقدات الشرق الأقصى، نتيجة ومدخل جديد، الوعي والكون كلانية الوجود في الفيزياء الحديثة ومنشأ الدافع الديني.
