He kept writing a daily article that was distinguished by the simplicity of his style through which he was able to reach the deepest and most complex ideas to the simple. He continued to work in Akhbar Al-Youm until he left it in 1976 to be Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dar Al Maaref, and then published Al Kawakeb magazine. He lived through the period of Gamal Abdel Nasser and was a close friend to him, then he became a friend of President Sadat and accompanied him on his visit to Jerusalem in 1977.

About the Author: A great Egyptian writer and novelist, he is a prominent figure in the Sharkia Governorate and has many contributions to literature. He is from the Abaza family, one of the oldest families in Egypt. It is a literary family that presented giants of Arabic literature, headed by his father, the writer Desouki Abaza, his uncle, the poet Aziz Abaza, and his uncle, the great writer Fikri Abaza. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Fouad I University in 1950, and began his working life as a lawyer. He began his literary life at the age of sixteen, which is an early start, and turned to writing short stories and radio dramas, and his name began to be repeated on the radio. He was editor-in-chief of the Radio and Television Magazine in 1974, and headed the literary section of Al-Ahram newspaper between 1975 and 1988 and continued to write in the same newspaper until his death. He also served as president of the Writers’ Union. He held the position of Under-Secretary of the Shura Council, as well as a member of the Supreme Council for Culture, the Specialized National Councils, the Board of Trustees of the Radio and Television Union, an honorary president of the Modern Literature Association, and a member of the International PEN Club. Tharwat Abaza wrote several stories and novels, a number of which were turned into films and television series. He also wrote more than forty radio plays, forty short stories and twenty-seven long novels. He also received several awards, including the State Encouragement Award in 1958, the Medal of Science and Arts of the first class, and the State Appreciation Award in Literature in 1982. On March 17, 2003, he died after a long struggle with illness due to a malignant tumor in the stomach.

«يا لَلخرابِ لو كانَ شريفًا! إذَن فهو لنْ يَقبلَ أنْ يَتناوَلَ الفَطور، وإذَن لنْ يَقبلَ الهَدايا التي سيُقدِّمُها له، ولكن كيفَ يكونُ مَأْمورًا شريفًا؟ إنَّه مَأْمور …» يَروي «ثروت أباظة» في هذه الروايةِ حكاياتِ أهلِ قريةِ السلامِ وما يُلاقونَه مِن اختباراتٍ مُستمرةٍ لدَواخلِ صُدورِهم، فنَرى روابطَ حُبٍّ تنشَأُ وأُخرَى تَنفصِمُ عُراها، وشجاعةً كامنةً خلفَ فَساد، وفَسادًا يَكمنُ خلفَ تَحامُق، وراغِبي السلامةِ قبلَ الكَرامة … كلُّ هذا في وسطٍ حِواريٍّ بديعٍ تَظهرُ فيهِ طبقاتٌ دقيقةٌ مِنَ المَشاعرِ داخلَ كلِّ شَخْصية، ويَتعانَقُ الحِوارُ معَ وصفِ البيئةِ ليَصنعَ حالةً مِنَ المُعايَشةِ يكادُ معَها القارئُ أن يَسمعَ ويَرى. وحسبُ هذه الروايةِ ما قالَهُ عنها عميدُ الأدبِ العربيِّ الدكتور طه حسين: «إِنَّها أحسَنُ ما كُتِبَ عنِ القريةِ في الأدبِ العربي.»
