Then he graduated from the High School of Teachers in the Literary Department in 1930 AD, and in 1944 AD he was sent on a mission to England during which he obtained a “Bachelor of Honors of the First Class” in Philosophy from the University of London; Immediately after that, he obtained a PhD in Philosophy from King’s College London in 1947. He taught at several Arab and international universities; He taught in the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, Columbia University in South Carolina, Pullman University in Washington State, Beirut Arab University in Lebanon, and several universities in Kuwait. He was also appointed cultural attaché at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington in 1954 and 1955. He was selected as a member of many cultural and intellectual committees; He was a member of the Philosophy and Poetry committees of the Supreme Council for the Sponsorship of Arts, Letters and Social Sciences, the National Council for Culture, and the National Council for Education and Scientific Research. He joined the committee of authoring, translation and publishing to co-publish with Ahmed Amin a series of books on philosophy and the history of literature in a clear and easy way for the public intellectual. He received many awards and honors for his works, including: the Literary Excellence Award from the Ministry of Education (now Education) in 1939 AD for his book “The Land of Dreams”, and the State Encouragement Award in Philosophy in 1960 AD for his book “Towards a Scientific Philosophy”, and the Order of Arts and Letters from Tabqa The first in 1960, the State Appreciation Award in Literature in 1975, the Republic Medal of the First Class in 1975, the Arab Culture Award from the League of Arab States in 1984, and the Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Award in 1991. The American University in Cairo awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1985. He is the author of many books on philosophy, including: “Positive Logic”, “A Position on Metaphysics”, and “A Window on the Philosophy of the Age”. He has several books that affect our intellectual and cultural life, including: “The Renewal of Arab Thought,” “In Our Mental Life,” and “In Modernizing Arab Culture.” His literary books include: “The Earth Comedy” and “The Paradise of the Abbey”. He presented his intellectual biography in three books: “The Story of Nafs,” “The Story of the Mind,” and “The Harvest of the Years.” This is in addition to his translations. About the Author: Jordanian novelist and writer, born in Amman in 1948, obtained a BA in Philosophy and Psychology from Beirut Arab University. He worked in cultural journalism during the years 1977-1979, and participated in editing the cultural magazine Al-Mahd, and the poet Taher Riyad participated in the management of Manarat Publishing House during the years 1980 -1991, and then founded Azmina House for Publishing and Distribution in 1992, where he works as its director. About the Author: Jawdat Jali was born in 1951 in Baghdad, in the village of Al-Rustamiah. He graduated from the Railway Institute, worked in several governorates, and was retired with the rank of technical director. He practiced drawing in his beginnings and was nominated at the age of eighteen to work in the magazine (Majallati) as a painter, but the administrative bureaucracy prevented him from being appointed. He participated in the activities of the theatrical troupe of the Zafaraniyah Youth Center, and the troupe won the second prize in the Qatari Festival for Youth Centers for a play written specifically for participation in the festival. He wrote poetry early and won the appreciation award for his poem in a competition for the Voice of the Masses. He received several prizes in poetry at the cultural festivals of the Eastern Karrada High School. In the seventies, he published his first poetic productions in Al-Thawra newspaper, as well as poetry and articles on the Young Voices page and a children’s story in Al-Thawra newspaper. وقد شرعتُ في كتابة هذه الملاحظات على غير وجهة أقصدها، ولا خطة أسير عليها، لذلك فهي مُشتتة مبعثرة لا يجمعها جامع، ولا يؤلف بينها شيء، وذلك أمر لا يزعجني، بل إني لراض به كل الرضا، إذ هو عندي من أكبر ما يميز تلك الملاحظات، أو هذه اليوميات. وقبل البدء فإني أشيرُ إلى أني قد استأذنتُ جميع من ذكرتُ أسماءهم في الملاحظات قبل نشرها فأذنوا لي بالنشر، ومن لم يأذن أو لم أستأذنه فإني أهملتُ ذكر اسمه مراعاة لرغبته وشعوره. ومن الأشياء التي يحسن الإشارة إليها هو أن جميع الملاحظات بلا استثناء حقيقية وليست من الخيال، فكل ما كتبته هو عبارة عن مواقف حدثت معي، أو أشياء رأيتها، أو أمور لاحظتها على مرَّ ثلاثة وثلاثين يوماً. وأحب أن أشير أيضاً إلى أن الملاحظات رغم أنها أخذت لوناً ظريفاً ساخراً غالباً إلا أنني حرصتُ كل الحرص على أن تكون هادفة مفيدة، إن لم يكن دائماً فغالبا على أقل تقدير.
