Nasr obtained a BA from the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, 1972, with an excellent grade, then a master’s degree from the same department and college in Islamic studies in 1976 and also with an excellent grade, then a doctorate from the same department and college in Islamic studies in 1979 with a grade of first honor. The writings of the Egyptian researcher caused a sensation in the media in the mid-nineties of the last century. Because of his scientific research, he was accused of apostasy and atheism. يضمّ هذا الكتاب مجموعة من الدراسات التي كتبها نصر حامد أبو زيد ونشرها في الفترة من عام 1990 حتى حين نشر الطبعة الأولى من هذا الكتاب، وذلك باستثناء فصل “اللغة الدينية: العالم بوصفه علامة” والذي ينشر في هذا الكتاب لأول مرة. ومن الجدير بالذكر أن “التمهيد” الذي يتصدر فصول الكتاب يعدّ إلى حدّ كبير دراسة جديدة، من حيث أنه يقدم قراءة نقدية لخطاب النهضة، خاصة من جهة قراءة هذا الخطاب للتراث العربي الإسلامي في بعده الديني. ويقول المؤلف بأن هذه الدراسة كشفت حقيقة أن خطاب النهضة العربي كان مسكوناً بخطاب الآخر الأوروبي في بنيته، ذلك أن الأسئلة والإشكاليات التي انشغل بها خطاب النهضة كانت مطروحة عليه من خارجه، أي من الخطاب الأوروبي. ويعتبر هذا الوضع الناتج عن مسكونية خطاب الآخر في خطاب النهضة مسؤولاً إلى حدّ كبير عن القراءة التلفيقية الموجهة أيديولوجياً، والتي أنتجها خطاب النهضة عن التراث العربي الإسلامي. هذا بالإضافة إلى أن هذا الوضع الملتبس ساهم بدوره في تغيب كثير من الأسئلة، بل في تحريمها، خاصة تلك الأسئلة التي تتناول طبيعة الخطاب الإلهي ودلالته.

ليس هناك أكثر تداولاً، في هذا العصر، من مفردة الطائفية، وجدلاً ضدها، إذ علمنا أن واحداً من معاني الجدل هو شدَّة الخصومة، فالكلُّ يشير إلى الكل بتهمة الطائفي، مع أن الجميع، من القوى الدينية، وشخصيات من اللادينين، من الذين لا شأن لهم بدين أو بإيمان، لكنهم يظهرون أكثر طائفية من المتدينين أنفسهم. وبطبيعة الحال ليس علماء الدِّين كافة هم الذَّين يمارسون الطائفية، والتي تتحدد ببث الكراهية ضد الطائفة الأخرى، بل على العكس وقف علماء دين بقوة وتمكنوا من درء الفتنة وتحجيمها عندما اجتاحت العراق بقوة بعد سقوط النِّظام السابق (2003)، وقضى الكثير من العراقيين ذبحاً على الهوية، وعلى وجه الخصوص بعد تفجير الروضة العسكرية بسامراء، الذي أمسى عذراً بيد الطائفيين من المسلحين. صحيح أن مفهوم أو مصطلح الطائفية لا يُحصر في ما بين الأديان والمذاهب، وإنما يتضمن كل تعصب جماعة ضد جماعة أخرى، سواء كانت طبقة إجتماعية، على أساس المهنة أو اللون وحتى الرأي، أو عشيرة، أو جنس، مثلما هو التعصب ضد مجتمع النساء، لكن ما طرق أسماع العالم ويخشى من مخاطره هو الطائفية الدينية والمذهبية، ونجدها تتصاعد مع تصاعد حضور الإسلام السياسي، الذي لم يتمكن من إحتواء المذهبيين في حزب أو كيان واحد، وهو في المعارضة أو في السلطة لا يعيش وينمو خارج رحم الطائفة. من هذا المنطلق جاءت مواضيع الكتاب، التي كتبت ما بين عامي (2003- 2008) ونُشرت، في صحف معروفة، مثل جريدة “الشرق الأوسط” و”الإتحاد الإماراتية”، لكنها تأتي في الكتاب بعد المراجعة والتوسع والتوثيق والتثبت من الحوادث والمواقف. حملت الفصول كافة القلق من هذا الداء الخطير، والمتوَّج خلال هذه السنوات بالمحاصصة الطائفية، التي قدمت على رأس إدارة العراق موظفين غي أكْفاء، مختارين بسبب إنتمائهم الطائفي أولاً ثم الحزبي، وهكذا تضيق الحلقة لتصل إلى ما سمّيناه بعصبة الحزب المدمرة، والحالة وإن تمظهرت بتمثيل الطائفة، ولكن الجوهر هو الإنتماء الفئوي داخل الطائفة. إن الحل الأمثل مثلما هو، التركيز على الهوية الوطنية العراقية، والتنافس على أساس البرامج الإنتخابية، والخروج من حزب الطائفة وكيانها الإنتخابي إلى الحزب العراقي، الذي يضمن إتاحة الفرصة للأكّفاء من أبناء العراق لإدارة البلاد، فالوطن للجميع ولا يجب أن يبرز طغيان أكثرية على أقلية أو العكس.

He practiced education in Baghdad primary schools for the period 1975-1979 at the time when UNESCO published a report in which it said that education in Iraq is also the same as education in the Scandinavian countries. He studied in Yemeni universities for the period 1979-1988, a period that witnessed the departure of more than 23 thousand researchers, doctors and engineers out of Iraq as a result of the first Gulf War that Iraq fought under the leadership of Saddam Hussein and Iran under the leadership of Ruhollah al-Moussawi Khomeini. He is also a weekly article writer in the Middle East newspaper and other newspapers. Most notably, the Emirati newspaper Ittihad.
