About the Author: A Lebanese-American philosopher, poet, writer, and painter, he was born on January 6, 1883 in the town of Bcharre, northern Lebanon, and died in New York on April 10, 1931 of tuberculosis. He immigrated when he was young with his mother and brothers to America in 1895, where he studied art and began his literary career. He is best known to the Western world for his book, “The Prophet”, which was published in 1923. Gibran is also the best-selling poet, after Shakespeare and Lausy. In his writings, there were two directions, one of them taking strength and revolting against the dogmas of religion, and the other following the tendencies and enjoying life.

يُأصل كتاب «مناجاة أرواح» لمجموعة من القيم والصفات الراقية النبيلة التي من شأنها الارتقاء بالإنسان والسمو بمعنى الإنسانية، كالصدق، والعطاء، والصداقة. ويتسم الكتاب بغلبة النزعة الروحية التي تسمو بالنفس إلى إدراكِ أسرارها وسبر أغوارها، وقد استحضر الكاتب بعض المعاني التي ذكرها سابقًا في كتابه «البدائع والطرائف»؛ فهو على سبيل المثال يُعيد استحضار صورة الشيطان باعتباره القوى الخفية التي تسعى إلى تجريد النفس من إرادتها التي تمكنها من اكتساب الفضائل، وتكبح جماح الأهواء التي تُفْضِي بها إلى اكتساب الرذائل. وتكرار المعاني دليل على صوفية الوجدان ودائرية الفكر، فالذات الجبرانية تتخذ دائمًا من النفس منبعًا للوحي مهما اختلفت الأفكار والموضوعات.
