“مأساة من ثلاثة فصول” للكاتبة “أجاثا كريستى” تدور أحداثها حول تنظيم حفل عشاء من قبل الممثل المشهور ، ويتم حضور ثلاثة عشر ضيفاً، ولكن الحفل كان مشئوما فقد اختنق السيد “بابنجتون” وهو يتناول شرابه ولم يلبث أن سقط ميتاً ، وبفحص عينة الشراب المتبقية فى الكأس لم يتم العثور على أى أثر للسم ، وأن الوفاة ترجع لأسباب طبيعية. وفى حفل آخر أقامه الدكتور “ستارينج” فى منزله ، يموت إثر تناوله كأساً من الشراب ، لكن لا يتم إيجاد أى سم فى كأس الشراب الذى تناوله ، ونتائج الفحص تشير أنه توفى نتيجة تسممه بالنيكوتين ، وبعد تشريح جثة الكاهن “بابنجتون” يتضح أنه هو الآخر توفى نتيجة للتسمم بالنيكوتين.
