رواية في سردابي فيودور دوستويفسكي . تُقسم الرواية إلى قسمين، الأول بعنوان “في سردابي” والثاني بعنوان “ثلج يذوب”، وفيها يحكي دوستويفسكي قصة رجل مهمّش حبيس غرفته الحقيرة في سانت بيتسبرغ والأهواء والتحليلات الفلسفية والنفسية التي يقوم بها، محاكما ذاته والآخرين، ونقرأ ذلك على لسان الراوي بصيغة المتكلم، الذي يوجه هذيانه للقراء معلنا منذ البداية أنه مريض وعليل، ويشرح لهم وجهة نظره عن نفسه والداء الذي أصابه، مغرقا في توصيف الضجر واللاجدوى من الحياة والسعادة، بل نراه يطرح التساؤلات عن حياته التافهة وعن احتقاره لنفسه قائلا “أيستطيع رجل قادر على التلذذ بمهانته الشخصيّة أن يحترم نفسه؟”، ليشرح الراوي معاناته الشخصية بوصفها صراعا مع ألم مستديم، يضرب إثره رأسه بجدار لا يتزحزح، وخاضعاً لسلطة طبيب أسنان مزاجي، لينتقل بعدها إلى التاريخ والسياسة مركزاً على الطبيعة البشرية التي يرى القتل عنصراً ثابتاً فيها، فمهما حاولت “الإنسانية” إدانته إلا أنها تمارسه، لنتلمس في النص حضور آرثر شوبنهور (1788-1860)، وخصوصاً أفكاره عن طبيعة العالم في كتابه “العالم كفكرة وإرادة”، فالراوي يرى أن الطبيعة لا يمكن الوقوف في وجهها، ويؤكد أن الموت والألم حاصلان لا محالة ونحن فقط نغض البصر عنهما.
