About the Author: Ahmed Issa: An Egyptian physician, writer and historian, he was born in the city of Rashid in the Beheira Governorate in 1876 AD, and completed his basic education there, then moved to the Khedivial School, and then joined the Medical School in Cairo. Issa specialized in gynecology, and worked in internal medicine in many hospitals, but he did not continue to practice the profession, and turned to writing and translation, and he was keen to attend lessons in other cognitive disciplines at the Egyptian University (Cairo University). Ahmed Issa was fluent in some Semitic, Greek and Latin languages, and was a member of many societies and councils such as the Red Crescent Society, the Council of the Scientific Academy in Damascus, the Supreme Council of the Egyptian House of Books, and the International Academy for the History of Science in Paris. Jesus moved to Rahab Allah in 1946 AD.

قدَّمتِ الثقافةُ الشَّفهيةُ المتوارثةُ عبرَ تاريخِ العربِ — قبلَ ظهورِ الإسلامِ وبعدَهُ — رافدًا ثريًّا للثقافةِ العربيةِ بل للثقافةِ الإنسانيةِ بشكلٍ عام، وقد تعدَّدتْ أشكالُ التعبيرِ الشَّفهيِّ ما بينَ الأمثالِ الشعبيةِ والحكاياتِ والأحاجي وأغاني الأطفالِ وغيرِها، حيث اتخذَ العربُ هذهِ الأشكالَ الأدبيةَ وسيلةً لنشرِ قيمِهم الثقافيةِ المُستقاةِ من البيئةِ العربية؛ كالشجاعةِ والإقدامِ وإغاثةِ الضعيفِ والفخرِ بالأنساب. ولإدراكِهم أهميةَ أنْ تُغرَسَ تلكَ الفضائلُ منَ الصِّغَر، فقدِ اعتنَوا بأغاني الأطفالِ التي يُهدهِدونَ بها أطفالَهم ويمرحونَ بها معَهم، لتتنوَّعَ أغراضُها بينَ المدحِ والذمِّ واللومِ والعتاب، وذلكَ في ألفاظٍ موسيقيةٍ جزلة. ويحتوي هذا الكتابُ على العديدِ من هذهِ الأغاني التي جمعَها المؤلِّفُ من كتبِ التراثِ موضِّحًا ما غمضَ من معانيها وألفاظِها، ليُعادَ استخدامُها من جديدٍ باعتبارِها وسيلةً تربويةً طريفة.
