About the Author: Alberto Moravia, an Italian writer, was born in Rome in 1907 and died on September 26, 1990 in the city of Rome, where he lived most of his life. He is considered one of the most famous Italian writers of the twentieth century. He writes in Italian and speaks both English and French. He was born into a wealthy middle-class family. His Jewish father, Carlo, was a painter and engineer, and his Catholic mother, Teresa Legiana. Alberto did not finish his studies because he contracted tuberculosis, which kept him in bed for five years, which made him love reading. In 1929 Moravian wrote his first book, Gli Indifferenti, and then began his career as a writer in 900 magazine, where he wrote his first short stories. Moravian literary works were distinguished by their brilliance and realism, as they penetrated into the depths of the human soul. Moravia attacked moral corruption in Italy. Most of his works have been translated into several international languages, and many of his novels have been turned into films.

Le integrazioni consentono così di restituire il carattere continuativo e composito di una “vocazione” al teatro che accompagna tutta la vita e l’opera dello scrittore. Nel tentativo di documentare questa passione e di ricostruire il pensiero teatrale di uno dei più grandi romanzieri del Novecento italiano, si è voluto da un lato evidenziare i nessi che legano questa produzione all’opera maggiore dello scrittore, dall’altra seguire la fortuna scenica di tali testi.
