Youssef Al-Qaradawi obtained a diploma from the Institute of Higher Arabic Studies of the League of Arab States in the field of language and literature in 1958, and later in 1960 he obtained a preparatory study equivalent to a master’s degree in the Department of Quranic and Sunnah Sciences from the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion in Al-Azhar, and in 1973 he obtained a degree (PhD) with distinction, with first class honors, from the same college, and the topic of the thesis was on “Zakat and its impact on solving social problems”. Important developments in the life of Al-Qaradawi Yusuf Al-Qaradawi in his youth his father died when he was two years old, so his uncle raised him. Yusuf Al-Qaradawi was imprisoned several times for belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood. He was imprisoned for the first time in 1949 during the royal era, then was arrested three times during the era of Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser in January 1954 AD, then in November of the same year where his detention lasted for about twenty months, and then in 1963 AD. In 1961, Al-Qaradawi traveled to the State of Qatar and worked there as Director of the Secondary Religious Institute. And the biography of the Prophet at Qatar University and is still in charge of it to this day.

ربنا لك الحمد كما ينبغي لجلال وجهك وعظيم سلطانك، وصلاة وسلامًا على رحمتك للعالمين، سيدنا محمد، وعلى آله وصحبه ومن اتبعهم بإحسان إلى يوم الدين. وبعد ،،، فهذه رسالة نشرت في أواخر الخمسينات من القرن الماضي «العشرين» حين كنت أعمل أنا وأخي أحمد العسال في الإدارة العامة للثقافة الإسلامية بالأزهر، التي كان أستاذنا الدكتور محمد البهي مديرًا عامًّا لها. وقد عهد إلينا في ذلك الوقت -بعد أن أخرجنا كتب الإمام الأكبر شيخنا الشيخ محمود شلتوت شيخ الأزهر- أن نتتبع ما ينشر في الصحف عن الإسلام إيجابًا وسلبًا، لنرصده ونرد على ما يستحق الرد منها. وقد نشر الشيوعيون في العراق، في عهد الكريم القاسم -على ما أذكر- كراسة تهاجم الإسلام وتعاليمه وحضارته، عُرفت باسم «الكراسة الرمادية»، وتحدثت عنها الصحف المصرية، وقد استاء الجمهور المصري مما نشر فيها من إساءة بالغة إلى الإسلام. وقد طلب إلينا أستاذنا الدكتور البهي أن نكتب ردًّا مركزًا ينشر في مجلة الأزهر ويترجم إلى الإنجليزية، ثم ينشر في رسالة مستقلة أيضًا، وقد وفقنا بحمد الله لكتابته ونشره، أنا وأخي العسال، ونشر في مجلة الأزهر، كما قام بترجمته الأخ الكريم الأستاذ حمودة عبد العاطي الباحث بمراقبة البحوث والثقافة، وقد توسع فيه بعد ذلك، وكان أساسًا لكتاب باللغة الإنجليزية هو «جوهر الإسلام». ولم يُقدَّر لهذه الرسالة أن تنشر بعد ذلك -فيما أعلم- حتى عثر عليها أخونا الأستاذ سلطان حسين وهبة ففرح بها، واستأذنني في إعادة نشرها فأذنت له، ولم أضف إليها جديدًا، إلا بعض التخريج، وإلا هذه المقدمة. أسأل الله أن ينفع بها من كتبها، ومن نشرها، وكل من قرأها، آمين. ربيع الآخر 1432هـ مارس 2011م الفقير إليه تعالي يوسف القرضاوي
