يضم الكتاب رسالة نادرة للإمام أبي حامد الغزالي الذي يرجع الفضل في كشفها إلى المستشرق الفرنسي لوي ماسنيون. إذ أنه اهتدى إلى نسختين خطيتين منها في مكتبة آيا صوفيا في القسطنطينية، ثم كتب وصفاً لهما مزوداً بمقتطفات منها، نشره في الجزء الرابع من مجلة الدراسات الإسلامية في باريس سنة 1932م. وبذلك لفت أنظار دوائر الإستشراق والأوساط العلمية إلى وجود هذه الرسالة التي تكشف عن ناحية كانت لا تزال مجهولة في تفكير الغزالي وكتاباته الجدلية. ثم نهض بعد ذلك الأب روبير شدياق اليسوعي بتوجيه من أستاذه ماسينيون بتحقيق النص العربي لهذه الرسالة بمقابلتها على نسختيها الخطيتين، بعد أنه اهتدى بدوره على نسخة خطية ثالثة كانت مدرجة في فهرست مكتبة جامعة ليدن بهولنده على أنها مجهولة المؤلف، فاستكمل تحقيقه للنص بمقابلتها عليها، ثم ترجمه إلى الفرنسية، وقدم له بمقدمات ضافية تلقي كثيراً من الضوء على مضمون الرسالة وظروف تأليفها، علاوة على ثبت ضخم بالمراجع التي رجع إليها ومعجم بالألفاظ الإصطلاحية ونشر مجموع ذلك في باريس سنة 1939م. والأب بعمله هذا ورغم كونه راهباً يسوعياً قد أظهر اهتماماً بعنايته في إحياء أثر عربي من آثار الأدب الجدي والدفاعي عن الإسلام يتضمن رداً على عقيدته، أي عقيدة الأب شدياق، وبالتالي فإن دار منشورات أسمار تقوم وفي سلسلة الإسلام من منظور آخر تعمد إلى إعادة نشر هذا الكتاب للقراء في العالم العربي، لا لبعث مجادلات دينية لا طائل تحتها إزاء مشكلات العصر الحديث؛ وإنما لتتبع إحدى نواحي التفكير الديني في الثقافة العربية التي لم تبتعد عمّا دعا إليه الإسلام من توكيد مبدأ التسامح وتوثيق مشاعر الألفة بين المسلمين والمسيحيين، ورغبة في إفادة القراء العرب ثم إغناء هذه الرسالة بترجمة لمقدمات الأب شدياق التي صدّر بها تحقيقه للرسالة، وتبذييل كلٍّ من النص والمقدمات باليسير في الشروحات والتعليقات. بالإضافة إلى ذلك وبما أنه قد مضى أكثر من ثلث قرن على ظهور رسالة الرد الجميل في طبيعتها الأولى، هي بحاجة إلى مقدمة جديد تمّ فيها عرض لما جدّ في الدراسات عن سيرة الغزالي ومؤلفاته بالقدر الذي يعين على تحديد نسبة هذه الرسالة إلى الغزالي وظروف تأليفها، ثم القيام بمراجعة ما جاء في المصادر العربية، وليختتم ذلك كله بوضع رسالة الرد الجميل في سياق ما سبقها من رسائل مماثلة. ويمكن القول بان في نشر هذه الرسالة الخطية من مؤلفات الغزالي ليعدّ من الفرص النادرة التي أتيحت للمشتغلين بالدراسات الإسلامية ممن يعنون بتاريخ الفكر في العصر الوسيط. هذا وإن هذه الرسالة إنما تشكل وثيقة في تاريخ تفكير الغزالي تمثل المرحلة المصرية في نسق نموه وتطوره، كما تزود في الواقع بدلالة قاطعة على جهود الغزالي العقلية، وما أحدثه من أثر في عدد من الأوساط الكلامية في مصر. هذا ومن المعلوم أن الغزالي وفد على الإسكندرية التي كانت مركزاً مشايعاً لأهل السنة ولا سيما لمقلدي المذهب الشافعي، وذلك في عهد دولة كان مذهبها هو المذهب الشيعي، من ناحية ثانية فإن هذه الرسالة هي على قدر كبير من الأهمية، إذ أنها تتعلق بتاريخ الدفاع العقائدي فيما ثار من المجادلات بين المسلمين والمسيحيين، كما تكشف عما أقسم به موقف الغزالي من لهجة صادقة وإخلاص بالغ، وهو الموقف الذي إتخذه دائماً في جدلياته العقلية. مع أطيب التمنيات بالفائدة و المتعة , هذا الكتاب من قسم كتب إسلامية بامكانك قراءته اونلاين او تحميله على جهازك لتصفحه بدون اتصال بالانترنت
