مخطوطة فوينيتش هي مخطوطة قديمة رسومي غامض، والذي يعتقد أن كتابته تمت في حوالي 1404 – 1438م، كتب من قبل مؤلف مجهول بأبجدية مجهولة الهوية وبلغة غير مفهومة. درست المخطوطة على يد العديد من المحترفين وعلماء التعمية، منهم أيضاً أشهر علماء التعمية البريطانيين والأمريكيين في الحرب العالمية الثانية، وقد فشلوا في تفسير ولو حرف واحد. هذه مخطوطة مألوفة للعديد من الباحثين في الألغاز في العصور الوسطى تحت أسماء “Voynich Manuscript” ، وقد أُطلق عليها أيضًا اسم “الكتاب الذي لا يمكن لأحد قراءته. تلقت المخطوطة اسمها الحالي من اسم أحد آخر مالكيها – مايكل فوينيتش (1865-1930) – بولندي ثوري ، عاشق الكتب والآثار ، زوج الكاتب المعروف إثيل ليليان فوينيتش. مخطوطة غامضة حصل عليها فوينيتش لمجموعته في عام 1912. وعلى الرغم من أن ذلك لم يؤثر على النجاح في فك رموز المخطوطة ، إلا أنه أثر في النهاية على مصيرها المستقبلي – في عام 1959 باعها ورثة عائلة فوينيتش لبائع الكتب هانز كراوس ، الذي أعطاه في عام 1969 لمكتبة نادرة Benecke في جامعة Yale ، حيث لا يزال محتجزًا.
