It has three medical centers concerned with the treatment of people with limited income, and many of the people of Egypt go to it due to its medical reputation, and it has formed convoys of mercy from sixteen doctors. The center includes four astronomical observatories, and a geology museum, on which specialized professors are based. About the Author: Mahmoud Shakir, who is Sheikh Abu Usama Mahmoud bin Shakir Shakir al-Harstani, is a Syrian historian and Islamic writer. He was born in Harasta, northeast of Damascus in the month of Ramadan in 1351 AH / 1932 AD, and died in Riyadh on the first Sunday of Safar al-Khair in 1436 AH corresponding to November 23, 2014. He studied elementary, middle and high school, and graduated from them in 1371 and 1952. He received forensic sciences at the hands of some scholars in the mosques of his town. Then he joined the University of Damascus to study geography, then graduated from it in 1956-1957. After that, he joined the mandatory military service, and graduated as a lieutenant, then was assigned to the front as an artillery officer on the border with Palestine in the northern sector in 1960 AD. Then he returned to teaching. He was passionate about studying the science of history with its arts, and he promoted Islamic history and became prominent in it, and classified it in an innovative way, and he was distinguished for accurately formulating his history in its past and present from the Islamic point of view with the presentation and analysis of events, and he responded in his writings to some of the suspicions raised by orientalists and their followers. He was interested in studying genealogy, and excelled in it. He moved to Saudi Arabia in 1972 and worked as a professor of geography and Islamic history at the College of Social Sciences in Riyadh and Qassim. He had prepared a radio program on Quran Radio from Saudi Arabia called The Geography of the Islamic World. He has more than two hundred works on history, Islamic thought and geography. He also participated in the development of curricula and study plans in the sciences of history and geography. About the Author: Ghassan Kanafani: is a Palestinian novelist, storyteller and journalist Ghassan Kanafani is considered one of the most famous Arab writers and journalists in the twentieth century. His literary works were novels and short stories rooted in the depth of Arab and Palestinian culture. He was born in Acre, northern Palestine, on the ninth of April 1936 AD, and lived in Jaffa until May 1948, when he was forced to flee with his family, first to Lebanon and then to Syria. He lived and worked in Damascus, then in Kuwait and later in Beirut since 1960. In July 1972, he was martyred in Beirut with his niece Lamis in a car bomb explosion at the hands of Israeli agents. Until the date of his early death, Ghassan Kanafani published eighteen books. He wrote hundreds of articles on culture, politics and the struggle of the Palestinian people. In the aftermath of his assassination, all his works were republished in Arabic, in several editions. His novels, short stories, plays and articles were collected and published in four volumes. Most of Ghassan’s literary works have been translated into seventeen languages ​​and published in more than 20 countries, and some of them were directed in plays and radio programs in several Arab and foreign countries. Two of his novels turned into movies. His literary works, written between 1956 and 1972, are still of increasing importance today. Although Ghassan’s novels, short stories, and most of his other literary works were written in the context of the cause of Palestine and its people, his unique literary talents gave them a universal appeal. He wrote mainly on Palestinian liberation issues, and he is a member of the Political Bureau and the spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. In 1948 he and his family were forced to leave, so he lived in Lebanon and then in Syria. He completed his secondary studies in Damascus and obtained the Syrian baccalaureate degree in 1952. In the same year, he enrolled in the Faculty of Arabic Literature at Damascus University, but dropped out at the end of the second year. About the Author: Ghassan Kanafani: is a Palestinian novelist, storyteller and journalist Ghassan Kanafani is considered one of the most famous Arab writers and journalists in the twentieth century. His literary works were novels and short stories rooted in the depth of Arab and Palestinian culture. He was born in Acre, northern Palestine, on the ninth of April 1936 AD, and lived in Jaffa until May 1948, when he was forced to flee with his family, first to Lebanon and then to Syria. He lived and worked in Damascus, then in Kuwait and later in Beirut since 1960. In July 1972, he was martyred in Beirut with his niece Lamis in a car bomb explosion at the hands of Israeli agents. Until the date of his early death, Ghassan Kanafani published eighteen books. He wrote hundreds of articles on culture, politics and the struggle of the Palestinian people. In the aftermath of his assassination, all his works were republished in Arabic, in several editions. His novels, short stories, plays and articles were collected and published in four volumes. Most of Ghassan’s literary works have been translated into seventeen languages ​​and published in more than 20 countries, and some of them were directed in plays and radio programs in several Arab and foreign countries. Two of his novels turned into movies. His literary works, written between 1956 and 1972, are still of increasing importance today. Although Ghassan’s novels, short stories, and most of his other literary works were written in the context of the cause of Palestine and its people, his unique literary talents gave them a universal appeal. He wrote mainly on Palestinian liberation issues, and he is a member of the Political Bureau and the spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. In 1948 he and his family were forced to leave, so he lived in Lebanon and then in Syria. He completed his secondary studies in Damascus and obtained the Syrian baccalaureate degree in 1952.
