About the Author: Khairy Ahmed Shalaby was born in the village of Shabas Omair, Qalin Center, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. He passed away on the morning of Friday 9-9 2011, at the age of 73. Khairy Shalaby is an Egyptian writer and novelist with seventy books, one of his most prominent works is the Al-Watad series, based on a story of the same name, starring the late Egyptian actress Hoda Sultan in the main role of “Fatima Talaba”. The pioneer of historical fantasy in the contemporary Arab novel, and his novel The Travels of Al-Tarshaji Al-Halluji is a unique work in its chapter Khairy Ahmed Shalaby, born in the village of Shabas Omair, Qalin Center, Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. Recipient of the Best Arabic Book Award from the Cairo Book Fair for the novel “Cisterns of Pearls” 2002. Recipient of the State Appreciation Award in Literature 2005. Nominated by the Canadian Embassy for the Nobel Prize in Literature. He is currently the editor-in-chief of the Poetry Magazine (Ministry of Information). Editor-in-chief of the series: Library of Popular Studies (Ministry of Culture). نص سردي في رحلة متخيّلة تبدأ من اللحظة وتعود إليها بعد أن تستحضر بناء القاهرة ومحطات من تاريخها، قبل خيري شلبي كتب فؤاد حداد نور الخيال وصنع الأجيال عن تاريخ القاهرة في ألف عام وهو عمل إيجابي يختار فترات مضيئة، وكتب جمال الغيطانى يوميات شاب عاش من ألف عام، كانت تيمة القاهرة القديمة ظاهرة، أفاد فيها المبدعون في السرد والشعر من كتابات مؤرخين عرب وأجانب، ربما كان لكتاب “سيرة القاهرة ” لستانلي لين بول، ابن أخ إدوارد وليم لين صاحب الكتاب الرائع “المصريون المحدثون عاداتهم وشمائلهم” أكبر الأثر في سرديات القاهرة، بالطبع أفاد المبدع العربي من المقريزي صاحب الخطط وابن تغري بردي في نجومه الزاهرة والسيوطي المتدفق سردا في حسن المحاضرة، مثلما أفاد لين بول منهم أيضا، لكن لين بول هو الذي ركّز على تيمة “الشخصية الثابتة” للمدينة، العالم الذي يعيش الآن في الماضي، وهذا ما اتبعه خيري شلبي في رحلات الطرشجي الحلوجي والغيطاني أيضا ، لدرجة أن خيري شلبي يكاد يتخذ من ستانلي لين بول دليلا في الرحلة إذ يظهر معه في الفصل الأول ويصفه خيري بأنه “خواجة أروب يعرف كل شيء” لكن شلبي حرف اسمه بقصد محاكيا لهجة أولاد البلد الذين يعربون الأسماء الأجنبية، وذكر شلبي اعتماده على روايات ستانلي. هناك مبدع سابق على الغيطانى وشلبي في التأريخ الفني للقاهرة هو محمد سعيد العريان، وهو أستاذ لمن أتى بعده لكن لايذكره كثيرون ولا تشير إليه إعلاميات السرد التاريخي الفني بصدد القاهرة ما يستدعي النظر في عنوان الكتاب لفظي الطرشجى الحلوجى، إنهما يفرضان على القارئ سؤالا هل الشخصية المصرية انفعالية تتحمس بشغف لشيء ما في البدايات والنهايات فقط؟ هل نهمل الوجبة الأساسية التي يتناولها خلق الله بين الطرشي في أول الطعام والحلوى في آخره؟ وهل نحن شخصية غريزية تستمد من حقل الطعام علاماتها الأساسية؟
