About the Author: A great Egyptian poet, writer and politician, he was born on August 20, 1888 AD corresponding to Dhu al-Hijjah 12, 1305 AH in the village of Kafr Ghannam in the city of Mansoura, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt. He studied law at the Khedivial School of Law in Cairo and graduated in 1909. He obtained a doctorate in law from the Sorbonne University in France in 1912, and upon his return to Egypt, he worked as a lawyer for 10 years, and also worked in the press. He contacted Ahmad Lutfi al-Sayyid and was influenced by his ideas, and adhered to his directives, as was influenced by Sheikh Muhammad Abdo, Qasim Amin and others. He was a member of the Thirty Committee that drafted the 1923 constitution, the first constitution to be promulgated in independent Egypt according to the February 28, 1922 statement. When the Constitutional Liberal Party established a weekly newspaper called al-Seyassah al-Swkiba, he appointed Heikal as its editor-in-chief in 1926. He was chosen as Minister of Education in the ministry formed by Muhammad Mahmoud in 1938 AD, but that government resigned after a while, but he returned as Minister of Education for the second time in 1940 AD in the Ministry of Hussein Serri. He remained there until 1942 AD, then returned and assumed this position again in 1944 AD, and the Ministry of Social Affairs was added to it in 1945 AD. He was chosen in 1941 AD as Vice-President of the Constitutional Liberal Party, then took over the leadership of the party in 1943 AD, and remained its leader until the parties were abolished after the July 23, 1952 revolution. He assumed the presidency of the Senate in 1945 AD and continued to preside over this Legislative Council until June 1950 AD, when the delegation government issued the famous decrees Which led to the expulsion of Heikal and many members of the opposition from the council as a result of the interrogations that were presented in the council and discussed accusations leveled against Karim Thabet, one of King Farouk’s advisors. He also represented Saudi Arabia in signing the Charter of the League of Arab States in 1945 AD. He also headed the Egyptian delegation to the United Nations more than once. He died on Saturday, Jumada Al-Awwal 5, 1376 AH, corresponding to December 8, 1956 AD, at the age of 68.

About the Author: Abu al-Mahasin Baha al-Din Ibn Shaddad: An Arab writer, he was a judge in the era of “Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi” and a historian of his period. Abu al-Mahasin Bahaa al-Din Yusuf bin Rafi’ bin Tamim bin Shaddad al-Asadi al-Mawsili was born in Mosul in 1145 AD. He was an orphan at a young age. His uncles, Banu Shaddad, raised him, and took his nickname from them for this reason. He learned the Qur’an and religious sciences since his childhood, then moved to Baghdad to gain more Islamic legal sciences such as hadith, interpretation, jurisprudence, literature, philosophy, speech sciences and language, so he joined the regular school, and then became a teacher there. After that, he returned to Mosul, and studied at the school founded by “Judge Kamal al-Din Muhammad ibn al-Shahrazouri”, and proceeded to publish his books so that people knew him, and he became of great scholarly standing. Abu al-Mahasin ibn Shaddad passed on a pilgrimage to Aleppo and Damascus, and wrote about his trip. When “Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi” heard about this, he summoned him and demanded that he stay in Syria to make him a judge for the military, and the first judge of the city of Jerusalem after the victory of “Salah al-Din,” and a supervisor of endowments there; He became one of his most important men, and one of those close to him. King “Al-Zahir” then assigned him to the judiciary of Aleppo and its endowments, and assigned him a rank comparable to that of ministers. He is credited with building many schools and spreading knowledge in Aleppo, until it became a destination for students and scholars. He also assumed the scientific guardianship of the “Aziz” King since he was a child until he reached the age of majority. Ibn Shaddad has a collection of valuable books; Such as the book “Al-Anwadir al-Sultaniyya wa al-Mahasin al-Yousifi” in which he recounts the biography of “Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi”, a book “Dala’il al-Ahkam” in the science of hadith, a book “The Rulers’ Refuge when Judgments Are Confused” in Law, and the books “The Excellence of Jihad” and “The Brilliant Summary,” and The Stick” and “The Names of the Men Who Are in Al-Muhadhab by Shirazi.” Ibn Shaddad continued his prominent scholarly role until the last days of his life, despite his old age, until he died in 1234 AD in Aleppo.

اكتبُ ما يُسعفني به ازدحامُ الأوقات بالواجبات، وما تُسعفني به الذاكرةُ من سنواتٍ وذكريات. أكتبُ سيرةً غير مكتملة، لعلّها تكون بدايةً لكتابة جزءٍ من تاريخ دولتنا، نُخلِّده للأجيال القادمة. سيقولون بعد زمن طويل: هنا كانوا، هنا عملوا، هنا أنجزوا. هنا ولدوا، وهنا تربّوا. هنا أحبّوا، وأحبَّهم الناس. هنا أطلقوا ذلك المشروع، وهنا احتفلوا بإتمامه. من هنا بدأوا، وهناك وصلوا في سنوات معدودات. ولا نريدُ من الأجيال الجديدة إلا أن يقولوا فينا خيراً؛ فالله في عليائه يعلمُ نيَّتنا في صنع الخير لشعبنا وأمَّتنا . والله يعلمُ أنّنا عملنا، واجتهدنا بما استطعنا. نفتِّشُ دائماً عن الإنسان في الإنسان، ونبنيه. ونزرعُ الخيرَ دائماً للناس، كلّ الناس، وننفعهم. لا تُوقفنا أزمات، ولا تُبطئنا عقبات. ولا نلتفتُ لمشكَّك، ولا نستمع لمتردِّد. هذه طريقتُنا في بناء بلادنا، كما سترون من خلال هذه المحطّات، في هذه المحطات كلماتٌ بسيطة، أودعتها قليلاً من حكمة، وكثيراً من محبَّة، لعلَّها تفيد، أو تلهم، أو تعلّم، أو تسهمُ في بناء الإنسان ورفعة الأوطان.
