About the Author: Rashid Al-Khayoun is an Iraqi researcher. He was born in Al-Chabaish in the Dhi Qar Governorate in southern Iraq. He graduated from the Teachers’ Institute in Baghdad in 1975. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Aden in 1984 in South Yemen. He obtained a doctorate in Sofia in Islamic philosophy in 1991. He practiced education in Baghdad primary schools for the period 1975-1979 at the time when UNESCO published a report in which it said that education in Iraq is also the same as education in the Scandinavian countries. He studied in Yemeni universities for the period 1979-1988, a period that witnessed the departure of more than 23 thousand researchers, doctors and engineers out of Iraq as a result of the first Gulf War that Iraq fought under the leadership of Saddam Hussein and Iran under the leadership of Ruhollah al-Moussawi Khomeini. He is also a weekly article writer in the Middle East newspaper and other newspapers. Most notably, the Emirati newspaper Ittihad.

يأتي الجزء الثاني مِن كتاب الأديان والمذاهب بالعراق حافلاً بالمذاهب الإسلامية العراقية الحيَّة؛ نشأة كل منها، ثم تطورها عبر التَّاريخ ومؤثرات السِّياسة عليها، وما بينها مِن تعايش وتكاره. جرى الحديث عن الوجود الشِّيعي بالعراق، خلاصة خمسة عشر قرناً، وماهو دوره في السياسة، حتى تطورات ما بعد نيسان/ أبريل 2003 كذلك حفل هذا الجزء مِن الكتاب بدراسة المذهب الحنفي، منذ بداية ظهور مقالات أبي حنيفة الفقهية، والنزاع بين هذا المذهب وبقية المذاهب السُّنية، أشار المؤلف إلى تميز المذهب الحنفي عن بقية المذاهب، من ناحية انفتاحه وتسامحه، تجاه أهل الأديان، ثم تعقبه دراسة المذهب الشَّافعي فالمذهب الحنبلي. كذلك تضمن هذا الجزء بحثاً عن السلفية العراقية، وكيف انتعشت في ظل الحملة الإيمانية. مع التعمق في العلاقة بين المذاهب، في أوجه الإقصاء وأوجه اللقاء، منذ النشأة وحتى بعد (2003)، جرت الدراسة مِن الجانب التاريخي التراثي والجانب الاجتماعي الماضي والحاضر.
