About the Author: He is one of Germany’s most distinguished writers, who left a huge literary and cultural legacy for the German and international library, and had a great impact on poetic, literary and philosophical life. Between the novel, theatrical writing and poetry, he excelled in each of them. He was interested in oriental culture and literature and reviewed many books. He was broad-minded, coming to science, in-depth in his studies. In view of the literary status represented by Goethe, his name was given to the most famous institute for spreading German culture around the world, which is the “Goethe Institute”, which is the only cultural center of the Federal Republic of Germany that extends its activity worldwide, and a number of statues were sculpted for it. هذا الكتاب لا يصف ما جال في نفس خاصة من فكر، وما ملكها من هوى، وما اثر فيها من عاطفة انما هو يصف الحياة النفسية لكلل شاب وشابة على اختلاف الازمنة والامكنة، وعلى تباين الاحوال والظروف. تلك خصلة تمتاز بها الكتب التي انشئت لتبقى ابد الدهر وقضى ان يكون الخلود لها نصيباً. تخلد لأنها لا تصف الاشخاص التي تفنى وتزول، وانما تصف النوع الذي يبقى ويدوم. وخصلة اخرى قضت لهذا الكتاب بالبقاء والخلود، هي انه لم يقف عند تمثيل الحياة النفسية للشباب في طور من اطوارها، انما وضع الانسانية مثالاً على الفضيلة تحس كل نفس الميل اليه، وتود له بلغته او دنت منه، فهو يمثل الايثار والتضحية احسن تمثيل ويصور الولاء للاصدقاء والوفاء للأحباء اجل تصوير. كل ذلك من غير تكلف ولا تصنع، ومن غير محاولة ولا عناء.
