About the Author: Al-Tayeb Salih – or “the genius of the Arabic novel” as some critics have called him – is an Arab writer from Sudan, whose full name is Al-Tayyib Muhammad Salih Ahmed. He was born in (1348 AH – 1929 AD) in the Meroe region of northern Sudan in the village of Karmakul near the village of Dibbat al-Fuqara, one of the villages of the al-Rikabiyya tribe to which he belongs. e. He lived his early life and childhood in that region, and in his youth he moved to Khartoum to complete his studies and obtained a bachelor’s degree in science from its university. He traveled to England where he continued his studies, and changed his major to studying international political affairs. Al-Tayeb Salih moved between several professional positions. In addition to a short experience in managing a school, al-Tayeb Salih worked for many years of his life in the Arabic department of the BBC, and rose to the position of director of the drama department, and after his resignation from the BBC returned He moved to Sudan and worked for a period on Sudanese radio, then immigrated to the State of Qatar and worked in its Ministry of Information as an agent and supervisor of its agencies. After that, he worked as a regional director for UNESCO in Paris, and worked as a representative of this organization in the Arabian Gulf. It can be said that the state of travel and movement between East and West, North and South gave him extensive experience with the conditions of life and the world, and most importantly, the conditions and issues of his nation, which is what he employed in his writings and novels, especially his international novel “Season of Migration to the North.”
