About the Author: Zecharia Sitchin is an internationally acclaimed author and researcher whose books offer evidence that we are not alone in our own solar system. One of a handful of scholars able to read the Sumerian cuneiform tablets, he has combined archeology, ancient texts, and the Bible with the latest scientific discoveries to retell the history and prehistory of mankind and planet Earth. His trailblazing books have been translated into more than twenty languages; his first one di lui, an oft-quoted classic, celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of its publication. A graduate of the University of London and a journalist and editor in Israel for many years, he now lives and writes in New York.

El Final De Los Tiempos book pdf download By Zecharia Sitchin

Author: Plato

Plato Selected Myths book pdf download By Plato

Once upon a time there were just the gods; mortal beings did not yet exist. We are used to thinking of myths containing lines like this simply as stories, and modern myths as made up and fictitious. For the ancient Greeks, however, a myth was unveiled reality, and for Plato, who was a myth-maker as well as a myth-teller, a myth could tell us something important about ourselves and our world. The ultimate purpose of Plato’s myths is to help us live a better life, and to teach philosophical truths in a form we can most easily understand. This volume brings together ten of the most celebrated Platonic myths from eight of Plato’s dialogues, ranging from the early Protagoras and Gorgias to the later Timaeus and Critias. The collection includes the famous myth of the cave from Republic as well as “The Judgement of Souls” and “The Birth of Love.” Each myth is a self-contained story, prefaced by a short explanatory note. An introduction to the volume considers Plato’s use of myth and imagery. These myths are both thought-provoking and profound, and together they provide an ideal introduction to Plato’s philosophy

Author: Nawal El Saadawi

About the Author: Nawal El Saadawi: She is one of the most controversial figures; Where it is difficult for the reader to stand in a middle position, either he is with her or he is against her. She is the most famous of those who called for the liberation of women from their chains, and who openly disobeyed what she called the “male society.” Nawal El-Sayed El-Saadawi was born in Kafr Talha, Dakahlia Governorate, in 1931 AD, to a middle-class family; Her father was an employee of the Ministry of Education, and he played a major role in her life, from him she learned to rebel against the restrictions of society, and that the constants that she does not believe in are idols that are easy to destroy. As for her mother, she is a simple country lady, from whom her daughter inherited the skin and the responsibility. Nawal El Saadawi completed her university studies and graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 1955. Despite the constant struggle within it between literature and medicine, one of them did not win the battle. Our author was a feisty physician and a questionable writer. She was married three times, and her marriage resulted in a son and a girl, and it was her last marriage to “Sherif Hatata” that propelled her work to the international level by translating it into English. Nawal El-Saadawi wrote more than fifty different works between the novel, the story, the play and the biography, and played with her pen on the Holy Trinity (religion, sex and politics) to undermine it; It calls for women to be liberated from the bondage of men, flying to a broader horizon than equality itself. When the woman wore the hijab in a religious manner, her mind concealed before her hair, and the man lifted it in the name of sex. On the cusp of politics, she lost everything and spent her life defending women; Her freedom was deprived, she was dismissed from her job, her name was included in the list of assassinations, and she had no choice but to search for freedom and safety elsewhere, but wherever she went, the issue of women was her greatest concern, so she kept writing about and to her. Despite her efforts in defending Egyptian and Arab women’s issues, she was celebrated by several non-Arab countries, and she was also nominated for a Nobel Prize. The name Nawal El Saadawi remains one of the most important names engraved in the imagination of feminist literature.

the Voynich manuscript book pdf download By Unspecified writer

The Voynich manuscript is an ancient obscure graphic manuscript, which is believed to have been written around 1404-1438 CE, written by an unknown author in an unidentified alphabet and in an unintelligible language. The manuscript was studied by many professionals and cryptologists, including the most famous British and American cryptologists in World War II, and they failed to explain even a single letter. This is a manuscript familiar to many medieval mysteries under the names “Voynich Manuscript”, it has also been called “the book that no one can read”. The manuscript received its current name from the name of one of its last owners – Michael Voynich (1865-1930) – a Polish revolutionary, lover of books and antiquities, husband of the well-known writer Ethel Lilian Voynich. A mysterious manuscript that Voynich acquired for his collection in 1912. And although this did not affect the success in deciphering the manuscript, it ultimately affected its future fate – in 1959 the Voynich family heirs sold it to bookseller Hans Krause, who gave it in 1969 for the rare Benecke Library at Yale University, where it is still held.

Ancient Egyptian Magic book pdf download By Christina Riggs

In the ancient world, if you needed a love charm, wanted to contact your dead wife, or needed the ability to fly like a bird, the magicians of Egypt were the ones who could make it happen. In Ancient Egyptian Magic, Christina Riggs explores how the Egyptians thought about magic, who performed it and why, and also helps readers understand why we’ve come to think of ancient Egypt in such a mystical way. Readers will learn how to cure scorpion bites, discover why you might want to break the legs off your stuffed hippopotamus toy, and uncover whether mummies really can come back to life. Readers can also learn how to save a fortune on pregnancy tests—urinating on barley grains will answer that question— as well as how to use the next street parade to predict the future or ensure that an annoying neighbor gets his comeuppance. Was magic harmless fun, heartfelt hope, or something darker? Featuring demons, dream interpreters, the Book of the Dead, and illustrations from tomb paintings and papyrus scrolls, Riggs breathes new life into ancient magic and uses early texts and images to illuminate the distinctions between magic, religion, and medicine.

A Short History of Myth book pdf download By Karen Armstrong

Karen Armstrong’s concise yet compelling investigation into the history of myth takes us from the Palaeolithic period and the mythology of the hunters right up to the ‘Great Western Transformation’ of the last 500 years. She shows us that the history of myth is the history of humanity, and our stories and beliefs, our curiosity and attempts to understand the world, link us to our ancestors and each other. Myths help us make sense of the universe, and of ourselves. Armstrong’s characteristically insightful and eloquent book serves as a brilliant and thought-provoking introduction to myth in the broadest sense – and why we dismiss it only at our peril.

Breve história do mito book pdf download By Karen Armstrong
