About the Author: Moussa Ould Abnou (born in 1956 in Boutlimit, Mauritania) is one of Mauritania’s greatest novelists. He published two novels in French: Lamour Impossible (1990) and For Barzakh (1994), which were later published in Arabic as: The Impossible Love (1999), and The City of Winds (1996). Ibnu has also published two other works in Arabic: Hajj al-Fajr (2003), and Mauritanian Proverbs and Wisdom of Compliance and Marian Folk Judgment.

About the Author: He is also a politician who held several important positions, as he worked for a while as an advisor to former President Maaouya Ould Sidi Ahmed Taya.

كانت (فاله) حزينة دائماً.. تبكي أحياناً بدون سبب مفهوم.. تعلقت بي شيئاً فشيئاً.. كنت كما لو أني طير من طيورها أو دويبة من حشراتها.. كان يبدو لي أحياناً أنها تعتبرني شاهداً على عالم مضى، أثراً واهياً من زمن انصرم.. عندما تلامسني تفعل ذلك بحذر وحنان، كأنني آنية خزفية ملكية، عثر عليها باحث مهووس. كانت تغيب أسابيع طويلة.. أسكن البيت وحدي مع النباتات والحيوانات.. وفي الليل أقرأ مخطوطاتها الشعرية التي تتغزل بالطبيعة.. عندما أقرأ شعرها يخيل إلي أنها حاضرة تكلمني.. لا حدود لشغفها بالطبيعة لهذا غادرت مدينة الرياح، وسكنت في هذه الضاحية المعزولة.
