About the Author: Farag Gibran (1960) is an Egyptian writer, journalist and translator. He worked as a government employee at the Audit Bureau in Cairo, but he loved journalism and literature. His government job required him not to sign his name at times, so he chose for himself a pseudonym “Fajr”, which is derived from his full name.

About the Author: Faraj Gibran co-published Al-Shula magazine with Muhammad Ali Hammad, and co-edited Akher Sa’a since its inception, and translated many stories and novels from the French language. He visited her, until he died in one of the planes after taking off from Italy on its way to Cairo in 1960 AD, when the plane disappeared over the Mediterranean Sea and no trace of it or its passengers were found.

ستظل شخصية الزعيم السوفييتي «جوزيف ستالين» محاطة بهالة من الرهبة والغرابة؛ فهذا الرجل (جورجي الأصل) استطاع أن يصنع من «الاتحاد السوفييتي» قوة دولية عُظمى يحسب لها الجميع ألف حساب؛ فمن مجتمع زراعي متخلف إلى دولة صناعية كبرى تُسهم بنصيب وافر من الإنتاج العالمي؛ ومن دولة مهلهلة الجيش يتمرد جنودها على ضباط القيصر، إلى قوة عسكرية نووية يخطب الجميع ودها وتسعى الدول للتحالف معها. ولكن تحصيل هذه القوة استلزم من ستالين قرارات قاسية تسببت في إزهاق آلاف مؤلفة من الأرواح الروسية في حملاته التطهيرية الشهيرة، وكذا معسكرات العمل الجماعي القسري غير الإنسانية، ولكن يظل المثير في أمره أنه كان محبوبًا إلى درجة العبادة؛ فلقد رأى معظم الروس فيه بطلًا أسطوريًّا صنع مجد الاتحاد السوفييتي بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية.
