About the Author: An Egyptian novelist and short story writer, born in “Alexandria” on February 17, 1938 AD. His books exceed fifty books. His father was an accountant and translator at the same time and had his own library. Muhammad Jibril benefited from his father’s library in his first readings and considered it a main reason for his love of literature. He started his working life in 1959 AD as an editor for Al-Gomhouria newspaper with the late Rushdi Saleh, then he worked for Al-Masaa newspaper. From January 1967 to July 1968, he worked as editor of the monthly “Social Reform” magazine, which was concerned with cultural issues. He worked as an expert in the Arab Center for Media Studies for Population, Development and Reconstruction. Worked as editor-in-chief of Al-Watan newspaper in the Sultanate of Oman (nine years). He now works as head of the cultural department of the evening newspaper. The publisher, Fadwa Al-Bustani, adopted the publication of his literary works, out of her belief in the universality of man. The published books on Muhammad Jibril and his literature amounted to (13) books. Some of his short stories were published in the Friday literary supplement of the Egyptian Al-Ahram newspaper. I also studied his works in the universities of the Sorbonne, Lebanon and Algeria. He is married to the writer and critic Zainab Al-Assal and has two sons, Amal and Walid. Some Egyptian intellectuals nominated him for the Nobel Prize in Literature. مضى في قلب حارة اليهود، يميزه قامة أميل إلى القصر والامتلاء، ورأس مهوش الفودين، وشعر كثيف يفز من فتحة الجلابية، أعلى الصدر. بادي الصحة بما يلفت النظر. يعرفه المارة والجالسون، فهم يتقونه بإلقاء السلام، أو بالدعوة للضيافة، أو بعدم الالتفات. وثمة روائح غريبة. نفاذة – وإن ألفها – تأتي من داخل البيوت، ونجمة داود متداخلة في الأبواب والشرفات.. تمنى – بينه وبين نفسه – لو أن هؤلاء الجالسين في الدكاكين، الواقفين على النواصي، المطلين من النوافذ، تحرشوا به. شاكلوه مثلما فعلوا مع علي الصغير. ينهي المسألة بمفرده. يطيح فيهم بيديه. يفش الغل الذي يخنقه منذ سنوات. ليست المسألة في مشاكلة علي وإيذائه. يستطيع الوصول إلى الفاعلين. يترك لأصدقائه أمر تأديبهم. فلا يعودون إلى أذية الناس، أو يتركون الحي بلا عودة. الثأر شخصي، لا يقف عند فرد أو أفراد. يمتد إلى حارة اليهود كلها. ناسها وبيوتها ودكاكينها ومعاملاتها. أفلسوه في يوم وليلة. مهدوا لذلك سنوات، بالقروض والشيكات المؤجلة والبضائع الأمانة، ثم هطلوا كالسيل دفعة واحدة. أصبح دكان المصوغات والمجوهرات ملكًا لمن دفع السعر الأعلى. يسرع في خطواته إذا سار أمامه. يصعب عليه النظر، ولو بطرف عينه. الهَمُّ تصاعد داخله، ملأه، حتى تمنى الموت. لما جاء الولد علي يبكي الإهانة، قرر أن يصفي الحساب كله. يكون الدرس في حجم التأثير المطلوب، يعرف اليهود أنهم يسكنون الحارة، ولا يملكونها. من حق الناس أن يمشوا في الشوارع، والأزقة، دون خوف أذى. هل ضربوا علي الصغير في خناقة بين أطفال، أو أنهم كانوا يعرفون أن الولد ابنه؟. سأله عن الأولاد: هل هم أصحابه؟.. وهل يعرفون من هو؟.. وهل تحرش بهم، أو ضربوه بلا سبب؟..
