About the Author: Buthaina Wael Al-Essa, a Kuwaiti novelist, born in Kuwait in 1982, holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the College of Administrative Sciences from Kuwait University in 2011, with distinction. She won the State Incentive Award for her novel “Saar.” She also won first place in the Youth and Sports Authority competition. “تحت أقدام الأمهات” رواية تأخذك إلى ما يحدث في عالم ذكوري أو بالأحرى مجتمع ذكوري الرجل سيده والمرأة خلقت لتحبه، ولتخضع له، لا لشيء فقط لأنه رجل، هكذا كان “فهاد بن علي” بطل الرواية، والشخصية المحورية فيها الذي إرتأت الكاتبة أن تنقل لنا من خلاله صورة عن مجتمع تحكمه العادات والتقاليد والقيم الدينية التي تمنح الرجل أحقية الرجل الزواج بأكثر من واحدة، ومسؤولية المجتمع والدين في زرع هذه القيم في ذهن الرجل في سن مبكرة، فأبطال الرواية ما زالوا صغاراً في المدرسة، طفلتان بريئتان تأكلان الشوكولاته وتتنافسان على “فهاد” الذي ينوي الزواج بقريبتيه عندما يكبر، وبدعم من جدته التي تصفه برجل البيت؛ الولد الوحيد ابن الولد الوحيد، السليل الوحيد للنسل الشريف، ملك الملوك وأمير الأمراء وشيخ الشيوخ وفارس الفرسان، تصفه الروائية بأنه “شاعر بلا قصيدة، وعالم بلا علم، ومحارب بلا قصة”، أما سبب إعتلائه هذه المكانة الرفيعة في العائلة فجاء على: “لسان هيلة بأن فهاد عندما ولد، جاء إلى هذه الدنيا بدون صرخة الميلاد وهي “وجه من وجوه الكرامة الإلهية” وبأن صرخات الوليد تعني تعرض المردة والشياطين له، وفهاد يمتاز بهذا عن بقية البشر”
