Author: Khalil Gibran
About the Author: A Lebanese-American philosopher, poet, writer, and painter, he was born on January 6, 1883 in the town of Bcharre, northern Lebanon, and died in New York on April 10, 1931 of tuberculosis. He immigrated when he was young with his mother and brothers to America in 1895, where he studied art and began his literary career. He is best known to the Western world for his book, “The Prophet”, which was published in 1923. Gibran is also the best-selling poet, after Shakespeare and Lausy. In his writings, there were two directions, one of them taking strength and revolting against the dogmas of religion, and the other following the tendencies and enjoying life.

كتب جبران عدداً قليلاً من القصائد القصيرة التي اعتمد فيها الشكل الكلاسيكي من حيث التزامه بالوزن والقافية. وتبقى المواكب القصيدة الطويلة الوحيدة التي نظمها جبران على بحور الشعر التقليدية .وقد قال عنها جبران في رسالة كتبها إلى أميل زيدان: أما المواكب كقصيدة فحلم رأيته في الغابة ولما رمت إبرازه وجدتني كحفار يحاول صنع تمثال من ضباب البحر. ويتضح اهتمام جبران الـ818 بهذه القصيدة من خلال إصداره لها على نفقته الخاصة. والقصيدة طويلة تتألف من مائتين وثلاثة أبيات وهي مبنية على نظام المقاطع.
