About the Author: Colin Henry Wilson (26 June 1931 – 5 December 2013) was an English writer, philosopher and novelist. He also wrote widely on true crime, mysticism and the paranormal, eventually writing more than a hundred books. Wilson called his philosophy “new existentialism” or “phenomenological existentialism”, and maintained his life work was “that of a philosopher, and purpose to create a new and optimistic existentialism”.
Wilson was born on 26 June 1931 in Leicester, the first child of Arthur and Annetta Wilson. His father worked in a shoe factory At the age of eleven he attended Gateway Secondary Technical School, where his interest in science began to blossom. By the age of 14 he had compiled a multi-volume work of essays covering many aspects of science entitled A Manual of General Science. But by the time he left school at sixteen, his interests were already switching to literature. His discovery of George Bernard Shaw’s work, particularly Man and Superman, was a landmark. He started to write stories, plays, and essays in earnest – a long “sequel” to Man and Superman made him consider himself to be ‘Shaw’s natural successor.’ After two unfulfilling jobs – one as a laboratory assistant at his old school – he drifted into the Civil Service, but found little to occupy his time.

في غمرة الحضارة المادية يبدو بأن إنسان اليوم يتجه اتجاهاً عقلياً محضّاً إلى مجريات حياته حتى الخفية منها، لذا لم يعد للقوى الخفية أي اعتبار عنده وبالتالي فقد تخلى هذا الإنسان عن حاسته السادسة لأنه لم يعد قادراً على الاحتفاظ بها، فالحضارة قد استنفدت كل طاقاته الفائضة، ولم يبق لديه شيء يستثمر به حاسته السادسة. ولكن يبدو أن الأمر بالنسبة لمؤلف الكتاب “كولن ولسون” مختلف، فهو يرى أن قوى الإنسان على توجيه (شعاع الإثارة) لديه إلى واقع بعيد له تطبيقات مدهشة حقاً فهي تضفي على حياته نوعاً آخر من القوة. ويقول بأن هذه القوى لم تتطور كثيراً لدى الإنسان وقد أسماها (الملكة العقلية X) وهي تمثل مستوى جديداً من القوى على نفسه، فهي ستعتق طاقاته الميتافيزيقية حيث يستطيع الإنسان مرة أخرى أن يطور راداره الميتافيزيقي، أو حاسته السادسة، وهذا هو السبب وراء إيمانه بأن ما يسمى بقوى الإنسان الخارقة ستزداد أيضاً بنمو ملكة X. يسجل كولون ولسون على هذه الصفحات تجاربه وتجارب الآخرين من خلال حالات عاشوا فيها إحساساً مرهفاٌ من الانعتاق الخيالي عبر رؤية علمية. وأدى إلى تحرك تلك القوى الخفية التي أثرت نتائج إيجابية من خلال تخاطب الإنسان وتفعيله للحاسة السادسة. فهذه القوى لم تدمر ولكنها ذهبت كما يقول (ولسون) إلى مخازن مبرّدة ويمكن استخراجها متى دعت الحاجة إليها. لأن هذه القوى ربما تستحيل إلى حصيلة ثانوية لقوى من نوع آخر.
