يأتي في كلِّ زمانٍ ثائرٌ يُزعزعُ أمنَ الظالمِ ويَقضُّ مَضجعَه؛ إذ يَسعى لاستعادةِ حقوقِ البُسطاءِ والمُهمَّشين — ممَّن تُغتصَبُ حقوقُهم وتُثقَلُ كواهلُهم بأعباءِ الطَّمعِ والجَور — فيثيرُ خلالَ سَعيِه ذاكَ عداوةَ أربابِ الحُكمِ وأصحابِ النفوذ. من هُنا تبدأُ حكايةُ «الظافرِ» الثائِر، الجنديِّ المجهولِ وراءَ الثورةِ ضدَّ «الفاتكِ» وأعوانِه، ذاكَ المَلكِ الجَشِعِ الذي فقأَ عينَيْ أخِيه، وقتلَ أحدَ أبنائِه، وسجنَ آخَر؛ حتَّى يضمنَ العرشَ لنفسِه، إلا أنَّ القدَرَ يَأْبى أن يَظلَّ الظالمُ آمِنًا، فتَقومُ تلكَ الثورةُ غيرُ المُتوقَّعة، وتدورُ على الباغِي أسوأُ دوائرِه. خمسةُ فصولٍ مسرحيةٍ تاريخية؛ خطَّها «مارون عبود» في مزيجٍ أدبيٍّ قيِّمٍ بينَ النثرِ والشِّعر، جمعَ عناصرَ المَشهدِيةِ المُتقنَة، وفصاحةَ الحوار، وبديعَ النَّظمِ والتشبيه.
